Absolutely Outstanding!!

"Couldn't recommend Nikau Lodge enough. Karen and Mick are some of the nicest and friendliest people, the location is perfect and a short 5min stroll to the shops and restaurants. The rooms and their views make you never want to leave. Finally the food....Mick is genuinely passionate about cooking and this shows, amazing breakfast!! Will be back for sure and am recommending staying here to all who listen and will be passing through Kaikoura."

Relaxing Retreat in Kaikoura

"We stayed for two nights and found this a perfect retreat. The spacious, comfortable bedroom had good views over the town towards the coast and mountains. The hosts Mick, Karen & Jazz (the dog) were very friendly and helpful and prepared a lovely café-standard breakfast to set us up for the day. The Lodge is a short downhill walk to the central area for restaurants and information centre. It is an easy drive from the lodge out to the peninsula with its seal colony and walks. We would definitely stay again."

Would definitely stay again

"We stayed 2 nights whilst in Kaikoura at Nikau lodge. It was fabulous. The rooms are super clean and all have bathrooms and amazing views to the ocean. The bed most importantly was really comfortable. The hosts were just wonderful. We felt very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were better than most restaurants I’ve been to as well. We wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you Mick and Karen for a wonderful stay."

Totally Faultless

"The only thing wrong here is that we didn’t stay for 2 nights. It is an amazing place - Karen and Mick were most welcoming and such a sociable couple. Jazz, the dog, fell into the same category!
Our room - Dolphin - was extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. We sat in the bay window sipping a wine looking out on to the mountains and the bay - truly special.
Breakfast was delicious - one veggie breakfast and one homemade granola with berries and yoghurt, fruit juice, toast and preserves. Fine attention to detail and Mick is a fabulous cook and he has an amazing accomplice - Karen.
This is THE place to stay in Kaikoura - thank you both."
